The Blue Door
It was nice to paint with a limited palette. I didn’t have to make so many decisions about what colours to use, just the tones and values. I like the simplicity and it was fun to focus on the textures surrounding the cat.
Prints of this (and many others) are available on Etsy.

Grey Jay
I would have preferred this bird to pop out a bit more but I guess I was working against his natural camouflage. I even removed the snow from the branches, as it was too similar to his head. I’m still not quite happy with it, but time to move on to the next one.
The Flock
I actually had to look up whether a group of sheep is called a herd or a flock. Flock it is!

A Mix of Sun and Clouds
I decided to do a quick landscape – no cows, chickens or other animals in this one. I wanted the focus to be on the dramatic sky and huge puffy clouds.

Bart
“Cow in a Field” is a really boring name for a painting, so I’ll call him Bart.
Daisy the Cow
I think these cows are cropping up in my paintings because of a recent trip to Alberta – a reminder of a lazy drive in the country on a sunny day.
Cows and a cat
Just dropped off several paintings at Stock Home Design, including these three. Such a beautiful little shop with so much to see!
Loon
I had fun painting this loon. Lots to work on with all of the patterns and reflections. Not sure it’s a total success, but definitely good practice.
